Let us Pray

There is a difference between knowing about prayer and actually praying. What we learn about prayer in Scripture is written to help us to actually pray. For the majority of Christians their knowledge of prayer outweighs their actual prayer.

This short booklet on prayer is designed to complement our four part preaching series entitled “Let Us Pray”, which was preached at all the sites of Cornerstone Church Johannesburg in May 2015. The recordings are also available below.

A Study on the Book of Psalms (Psalms 1 – 72)

The composition of the Psalms may be the most loved book of the entire Bible. New Testament writers certainly loved the composition of these emotionally and intellectually stimulating canticles. In this study we look at the Psalms that relate to the life of David from Psalm 1 – 72.

This course is periodically taught at our Equipping Courses (evenings or mornings).

School of the Prophets

We had the privilege of hosting the NCMI School of the Prophets from 16 – 20 March at Bedfordview. We enjoyed five days of studying, exploring, and practicing prophecy.

As God’s people we have been called to prophesy. But what does this mean? How does this work? How do we make sure that we are representing the heart of God? These questions, and more, were answered at this event.

The manual has been adapted from the series of talks, available below.

Prophecy is hearing and doing what God says. The Church today needs to understand what New Testament prophecy is and realise the responsibility of prophecy on the Church. We have been called, by God, to prophesy and to be his Voice in this age.

Deacons Training

Church leadership, biblically speaking, is profoundly simple. But our own traditions and methods of building outside of God’s pattern have confused this subject a great deal.

Jesus is building His church and He builds it according to His pattern, not ours. In this booklet we explore the subject of deaconship – what does it mean to be a deacon? What do deacons do? What are the qualifications of a deacon?

Evangelism (Basic Training)

What is evangelism? Is it just going out into the streets? How do we do it and how do we get over our preconceptions? This short, three part booklet covers these questions. The course is periodically taught at our Equipping Courses (evenings or mornings).

A Study of the Book of James

Authenticity is a word that is closely associated with the Christian church. Throughout church history there are those who have succeeded and those who have failed to be authentic. What makes someone an authentic Christian? When their salvation shows in how they live.

James is a difficult book to read but, when you study it, is very encouraging. This course is periodically taught at our Equipping Courses (evenings or mornings).

Revelation Study Guide

RevelationBookletCover

Predictions of the end have always been with us. In our day, too much of our understanding of Jesus’ second coming is influenced by science fiction and TV documentaries. Some spend their lives in conspiracy theories and current affairs, trying to discover who the antichrist is or what 666 means.

But the book of Revelation isn’t actually that difficult to understand. It’s not scary or difficult. You don’t need charts or a degree in world history. It is a practical book that you can apply today. This study book is based on a two-year preaching series on the book of Revelation where we uncovered the encouraging and highly relevant message of this book.

Hearing God

God fills the universe. Therefore when it comes to hearing His voice, the problem is with us and not Him – He is speaking all the time!

The Twelve study booklet

TheTwelveBookletCover

Download The Twelve study guide – a collection of edited transcripts of our preaching series on the twelve disciples, including study questions. This is based on a series where we looked at the lives of Jesus’ disciples and focused on how Jesus discipled them, with the view of applying Jesus’ discipleship process into our context today.

Printed copies available on demand for R30 a copy – contact the office to order.

The Whole Counsel of God: Part 1

This course outlines how we build good doctrine, how we can teach others to do the same, and provides foundational doctrines that are key in discovering how to use the Bible properly. The course is periodically taught at our Equipping Courses (evenings or mornings).
