God at the work place PDF Print E-mail

Some time ago, I was deeply moved by a colleague’s testimony about how God came through for them at work. They started off with a small group. Within a short period of time they had a large group (about 150 people) coming to a Christmas theme. God opened up all the doors for them.

Deeply moved by this I was inspired to start.

I started to pray in the basement of my office block for an hour a week. I was alone for two months. I prayed to God to please give me someone to support me because I didn’t think I could do it alone. Shortly thereafter I met an Asian chap that had been saved about a year prior.  His wife prayed for him to get saved as she was Christian and he was Hindu. His life was changed radically. We got together and basically just prayed for each other. We also prayed for the company and anything that God laid on our hearts. Some other people joined us. We had to move to a boardroom at work. All the men decided to go to MMC in 2009. We all went together. After MMC the people changed radically. One of the people that had been smoking for 24 years, quit smoking, drinking and swearing.

We felt we had to get a format. We are meeting on Wednesdays from 12 to 1. We read Uncle Angus Buchan’s book of daily devotionals. Someone prepares the piece, reads out of the bible and then shares his thoughts about it. Everyone shares and gives their input. After 45 min of discussion we will pray for 15 min. We pray for the company, the MD and anything that is on our hearts. We are currently 12 people. We once took part in a project to give food for some people. We collected over R 4 000. We even had a competition between sales and technical to see who raised the most money.

I am not sharing this boastfully, but because I am amazed at how God will take some small effort on our part and turn it into something that extends far beyond what we can ever imagine.  What started off with one man’s small effort to intercede for his workplace, turned into a miniature cell group that is continuously growing.

God is good. We just need to be led by Him. We can spend so much time and effort in things that are here today and gone tomorrow, but when it comes to things that are going to last forever, we have 101 excuses.

Let’s build on God’s Kingdom and He will build on our lives.

Mat 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Preserved in Jesus Christ - Jude 1:1 PDF Print E-mail

90005MandarinOrangeJarWhen I read through Jude and having heard some of the ministry, a part of verse 1 caught my attention.  Jude says at the end verse 1, “we are preserved in Jesus Christ”.  I visualized a bottle of preserves and I realized that the fruit used in the preserve is surrounded, saturated, drenched and soaked in the syrup.  The fruit can no longer be separated from the syrup or the syrup separated from the fruit.  It has actually become one object.

Preserved means: to keep safe from injury/harm, to keep alive, to keep or save from decomposition, to keep and reserve for personal use.  These meanings can all be relevant to our lives:  God does want to keep us safe, He wants us to receive eternal life, God does want to keep and reserve us for His personal pleasure.
