I’ve been challenged, that one entry does not make a blog!!! At least Captain Kirk had time on his inter-galactic journeying around the universe to make his star date entries! But here goes, blog entry 2 – Star Date 10082010!

Our world cup soccer was a wake up call to the world and ourselves, that we as South Africans don’t need to be defined by our bad points, like crime, violence and unemployment …etc. I know that there are those who suffer under the reality of these, and I have as well! BUT, as we saw, we were united as a nation for month, and the event was only world cup soccer. Nation pitted against nation in a spectacle of passing, tackling, diving and the occasional goal. All topped by the prophetic prowess of an octopus!!! We celebrated, we used public transport, we embraced our diversity and we showed that we know how to be constructive, hospitable and well organised!!! The world got a taste of our ubuntu, and an earful of our vuvuzelas! Well done South Africa!
