What do you do in response to the harrowing but sadly often too true comment that the “charismatic church is a mile wide but and inch deep”? Well, the answer may be, doing your best to get back to sound systematic grappling with scripture. This then is our focus in the bible school. While it is called a bible school, this may be a little misleading for you depending on what your previous church experience is.

What we do on a bible school night (Wednesday nights 6-8.30p.m) is our best effort to equip, prepare, resource and mature all of our family in knowing the word, and then knowing how to make it effective in our lives. After a great family meal we break up and move into one of the venues where the many different subjects will be held. We do our best to make the times interactive, which is not possible at a Sunday meeting, giving opportunity to ask many questions.

Here are some of the topics we focus on:

DNA

This is an introductory look into Cornerstone life and belief for the person considering becoming part of the family.

Foundations

This is an overview of the basic teachings of the Christian faith. It covers topics like : salvation, water baptism, Holy Spirit baptism and 13 more essential topics to have laid in a believers life.

Love Joburg

The practical sharing of our faith. This group of people go out and do their best to meet with and change a godless city by sharing their faith in various places around town.

Book of the Bible

Each term we do a systematic exposition of a book of the Bible. Understanding the book and then drawing out the meaning for today’s world.

Leadership

We believe in raising up leaders! This is training for anyone who believes God is calling them to leadership in the church and in the workplace.

Family

Covers various topics that apply practically at home. Parenting, restoration of relationships and marriage, are some of the topics covered at different times.

Life Skills

Equipping practically for what comes in life. Finances, Relationships etc.

Theology

We cover a subject that would be dealt with if one were going to a bible college. Systematic Theology, hermeneutics, homiletics and many others.

Then we often do a relevant subject that we feel would be helpful to many of the people in the family. We have done ‘living a supernatural lifestyle’ and ‘entrepreneurship’ to fit this category.

We run the sessions along the same calendar as the school terms. The teachings are 8 weeks in length and a strict hour. You will be sent home at 8:30.

We have seen a formidable advance in our bible literacy and more than that we have seen our faith grow as a church as we learn to take God at His Word. So come along, there is much more to be had than a Sunday morning message!
