Cornerstone Church (along with other relating churches) has the privilege of carrying on the work into East Africa that was initiated by various NCMI guys and girls. One of the countries that we work into is the beautiful country of Tanzania. It is rich in diversity, culture and natural resources. From the highlands in the south west where export quality tea is grown to the mighty Kilimanjaro in the north east - a world land mark of majesty and stark beauty. The people likewise are very diverse even have multiple dialects of Swahili throughout the nation and region.
Over the past few years we planned and held (with the help of the local church there) an annual Leadership Training Time just outside the Mikumi National Park in the small town of Mikumi, and it has been very well attended by people from all over the country. This year we are planning a somewhat different approach, with us building strong relationships by spending time with the leaders and the local churches in their area.
Central
For the rest this year we have another trip planned (and as always “things can change”) for the central region.
4 - 10 November
We plan on doing something similar to last year where some of us spent time with the leaders of the churches in the regions (Tanzania and Zanzibar) from the 1st till the 4th of November in Dar-es-Salaam, and then go on trips into the various areas afterwards. We are thinking of going to Dodoma and Morogoro then.
North West
2nd Half of 2010 – August / September date to be confirmed
Relationships with church leaders in the North Western part of Tanzania have been developing with a number of visits having been made to the town of Karagwe in the Kagera Province. This area is bounded by Uganda in the north, Rwanda and Burundi in the west and Lake Victoria to the east.
We are planning to visit this area once more during 2010 to grow our relationships with local church leaders, preach the Gospel and disciple in the Word.
Road travel in this region is influenced by periods of high rainfall. July, August and September are the better times to travel. This will probably mean that the trip to this region will be scheduled for late August or early September.
Travel to Karagwe is by commercial airliner from Johannesburg to Dar-es-Salaam then on to the city Mwanza at the southern tip of Lake Victoria. It is a comparatively short flight in a light aircraft from Mwanza to Bukoba on the eastern shores of the lake. The final leg of the journey is a 3 hour road trip to Karagwe.
Please pray that the planned trips go well this year, and that as always, each trip has every single person on it that God has prepared and wants there.
